Hi. I noticed you have a seconds-to-midnight counter on your
front page. However, it seems to be rather static, and since
you already use JavaScript to generate the number, have you thought
about putting a timer in place? If you don't know what I'm
talking about, I could send you a code sample, but this would make
it a little more accurate. Sydney Troz

Hi James, Thought I'd add something to your Guestbook, but then
discovered that I hadn't anything worthwhile to say ... thus, thought
I'd just grace your website with this verse from Paul (to Tim), my
favorite:
Faithful is the saying and worthy of all welcome
(for for this are we toiling and being reproached),
That we rely on the living God, Who is the Saviour of all
mankind, especially of believers.
These things be charging and teaching.

Hi James, I like your site. I especially like the bookmarklet

work. I really wanted to write and say thanks for that - it is
a sweet little editor I must say!! You can go ahead and put me
in your guestbook if you want, but please omit or disguise my email
address, I'm paranoid about spambots! :) I don't put my email
address anywhere on my own site, I will only let people email me
using the PHP form on the site... Stephen.

Hello, James, I visited your web site through HTML Goodies and was
quite impressed. Good job. I was also impressed by your
open and inoffensive testimony of your Christianity. I am
Assemblies of God, born and bred, but we both serve the same Lord
and Savior, Jesus Christ. God bless you and yours.
By the way, you might wish to visit my web site at
http://abiblestudyforum.homestead.com. Yeah, I did it with
Homestead's WYSIWYG but I can do some HTML from scratch - WYSIWYG is
just quicker and easier. The articles and such I did in Notepad
and Word and then added whatever I wanted in HTML before uploading it.
Regards, Jerry Hamilton.

Hi, I discovered your website in the following place: Goodies to Go
(tm). After checking it out and reading some of the reviews, it is
awesome. Adding God's Word to your site and to each section is
inspiring. Great idea. You are someone who is not ashamed of
the Gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone
who believeth! I usually save the letters from HTML Goodies to read
later but today's I read. That was no accident.
I used HomeSite HTML coding for an online Help while on a 6 months
contract for a major financial institute that handles over $6 billion in
transaction daily. It was exciting. Frames would make it more
user-friendly. Will try it on my own and see what happens.
I grew up in Fargo, ND but have spent over 30 years in the Boston
area with 3 years in San Francisco. After graduating from NDSU, I
taught math in MN and MA for a total of 10 years, had 9 career changes,
and now enjoy being a technical writer that is a real gift from God.
I LOVE BEING A TECHNICAL WRITER. It was a real adventure learning
HTML coding and now I need to expand my knowledge.
May God continue to bless you and all your "families," KEEP UP THE
WONDERFUL WORK! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!! Anita.

Not only have you been most helpful in answering my

if I manage to get it [fully] working!
03-Mar-2000 Nicole Porter: sahoya@hotmail.com:
Dear James, Since you requested some feedback, I would
be happy to share my thoughts with you on improving your site.
Let me begin with the animations on the index page. I do not
understand why you have used the kissing penguins, or the other
animations. They are not enhancing any content that I can
see.
[The last paragraph invites the visitor to choose something to
see and concludes with, "... me and the Mrs. will find
something to keep us busy while we wait." I'm married
and enjoy "something to keep us busy," so I used the
penguins doing "something." The fleur-de-lis at the
top are there just because I like them and serve no usefull purpose
other than that.]
I would also recommend that you create some more
visually pleasing buttons. Seems shallow, perhaps, but
viewers enjoy seeing work that looks like it took a lot of time to
create (although as a webmaster I can tell that you have).
[The buttons are, admittedly, rather bare bones. Quite
beautiful buttons are available for free all over the web, so it is
not worth putting a great deal of work into that area.]
The counter is also one that is very plain and
common. I would suggest that you pick a different counter
that complements your site a bit more, and makes your visitors
go "wow"!
Secondly, I would suggest changing the background that
you use, and perhaps the font. Times New Roman is a great,
legible font, but it only looks good in certain settings.
With the gray background the text seems to almost fade into the
page. Try selecting a more stand-out background, and
coupling it with a font such as Verdana in bold.
[The font is whatever you've set as default on your
system. I did this on purpose to be compatable with as many
browsers as possible and to make the site more accessible by the
visually impaired.]
All in all, I can tell that you have put a lot of time
and effort into your site, but it simply fails to grab one's
attention visually. And please tack on as well that I find
your site to be a valuable resource. I also enjoyed doing the
"Find the Books of the Bible" puzzle (which I think I've
done three times now - lol). It's good to see a Christian on
the 'Net that cares so much about helping others, too. You've
done a nice job on your content, even if the design didn't grab
me. ;)

I've just had a look at your web site and I thought the
idea of having an outreach page on the site is an excellent

The javascript quiz I was asking help for is part of my
effort to pay off my student overdraft. This is important as
I've seen God directing me to do youth work in the US, through a

as work elsewhere. Anyway I digress.
